EBV is as the name claims it to be, a virus. It is one of the most common human viruses in the world.  Unlike the current pandemic which has been known to spread person-to-person in the air with respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezes and talking, EBV has been transferred to others primarily through saliva, or other body fluids.

EBV has been recognized to cause infectious mononucleosis, also called mono, as well as other dis-eases.  If you were exposed to EBV sometime in your lifetime, you may not have had any symptoms at all, but there is an incubation period.  Documented cases of an individual who was exposed to EBV reveals they can be contagious for up to 18 months after the exposure.
